Utah - Day 6: Fish Creek
On Thursday, May 6, 2021, Heidi dropped me off at a nearby Enterprise Rent-A-Car, where I picked up the midsize SUV I’d be using for the rest of the trip.
After securing the car, I returned to Heidi’s place to re-pack up and prepare for our journey. Each of us would be driving separately for the rest of the way, as Heidi would only be able to join me for part of the trip to visit the Utah National Parks.
We left around 10:30am for Thousand Lakes RV Park in Torrey, UT, our base for exploring Capitol Reef National Park. The park offers RV sites, tent sites, and cabins, along with picturesque views and an on-site restaurant. We opted for one of their cabins with a kitchen.
Soon after arriving, we changed into hiking gear and headed to the Fish Creek Trailhead to hike parts of the Fish Creek Lake Trail and the Fish Creek Cove. The hikes rewarded us with sightings of ancient pictographs, petroglyphs, and a slot canyon featuring a small waterfall!
After spending a couple of hours hiking, we returned to Thousand Lakes RV Park for dinner and headed to bed.
