Thursday, June 13, 2024: Flight from ORD to Miami and Miami to Lima

  • 5:25pm flight from Chicago O’Hare to Miami

  • 9:34pm flight from Miami to Lima

    • The flight from Chicago was delayed, due to storms, but we made it!

Friday, June 14, 2024: Lima to Cusco to Ollantaytambo

  • Arrived in Lima at 4:10am

  • 8:05am flight from Lima to Cusco, landing at 9:25am

  • Cusco to Ollantaytambo via taxi

  • Checked into Apu Lodge

  • Lunch at Apu Veronica

  • Vistied the Ollantaytambo Ruins

  • Walked around the market in front of the ruins

  • Chocolate Museum 

  • El Albergue Ollantaytambo

  • Plaza Principal De Ollantaytambo

  • Dinner at Mallki Pizzeria 

Saturday, June 15, 2024: Ollantaytambo

  • Driver picked us up at 8am from Apu Lodge

    • Drove an off the beaten path way to Moray

    • Visited Moray

    • Visited Moras

    • Visited a store in Chinchero 

    • Visited a jewelry at a store in Urumbama 

  • Driver brought up back to Plaza de Armas Ollantaytambo 

  • Late lunch at La Esquina

  • Walked back to the hotel for a break

  • Dinner at Chuncho

Sunday, June 16, 2024: Cusco

  • Checked out of Apu Lodge

  • Driver picked us up at 7:30am take us from Apu Lodge back to Cusco

  • Checked into Union Hotel

  • Walked around Cusco

  • Lunch at L’atelier Cafe Concept

  • Went to Saqsaywoman

  • Walked back to Union Hotel for briefing before the Lares Trek

  • Stopped at the market for hats, gloves, etc

  • Dinner at Limbus Restobar

Monday, June 17, 2024: Lares Trek Day 1: Cusco – Huaran – Cancha Cancha

  • Details for the day

    • Meals included: Breakfast – Lunch – Afternoon Tea Time – Dinner

    • Accommodation: Camping facilities with bathroom building

    • Distance: 9kms / 5.6 miles

    • Time: 3.5hrs approximately

    • Difficulty: Moderate 

Tuesday, June 18, 2024: Lares Trek Day 2: Cancha Cancha – Quiswarani

  • Details for the day

    • Meals included: Breakfast – Lunch – Afternoon Tea Time – Dinner

    • Accommodation: Camping facilities with bathroom building

    • Distance: 12kms / 7.5 miles

    • Time: 7hrs approximately

    • Difficulty: challenging

Wednesday, June 19, 2024: Lares Trek Day 3: Quiswarani – Cuncani – Lares – Ollantaytambo 

  • Details for the day

    • Meals included: Breakfast – Lunch – Afternoon Tea – Dinner

    • 3* Accommodation: Ferre Hotel Machu Picchu

    • Distance: 15kms / 9.3 miles

    • Time: 6 hrs approximately

    • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Drove from Lares Hot Springs to Ollantaytambo 

  • Got dinner at Ollantaytambo

  • Took a tuk-tuk from the restaurant to Aguas Calientes 

  • Checked into 

Thursday, June 20, 2024: Lares Trek Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

  • Details for the day

    • Meal included: Breakfast

    • Difficulty: Easy

Friday, June 21, 2024: Rainbow Mountain back to Cusco

  • Rainbow Mountain 

    • Driver with SAM Travel will pick us up from Union Hotel early to bring us to Rainbow Mountain and back to the hotel

  • 7:30pm dinner reservation at Cicciolina

Saturday, June 22, 2024: Cusco to Lima and spend the day in Lima

  • Fly from Lima to Cusco

    • 9:25-10:55am

  • Driver from Antigua Miraflores will pick us up at the airport to bring us to the hotel

  • Drinks at Restaurant Huaca Pucllana

    • Elevated Peruvian dishes in an elegant setting, with views of a pre-Incan stepped pyramid.

  • Dinner at Merito

    • Tiny two-floor establishment, with an open kitchen, in trendy Barranco

    • Considered to be one of Peru’s most acclaimed restaurant

Sunday, June 23, 2024: Lima and flight from Lima to Miami

  • Lunch at Restaurant Alfresco

    • Seafood restaurant

  • Ice cream at Crem dela Crem

    • One of the best ice cream shops in Lima

  • American flight at 10pm to arrive at 5am

Monday, June 24, 2024: Miami to Chicago

  • American flight at 6:37am to land in Chicago at 9am
